As we move toward a hyper-connected future, the next generation of networking technologies is poised to transform not only how we connect, but how we manage, secure, and optimize our digital environments. This year’s ITG VDE Expert Symposium on the Future of Networking brings together pioneering research and insights on the critical pillars shaping tomorrow’s networks. The Future of Networking is organized by VDE ITG KT 2 “Communication Networks and Systems”.

The “Future of Networking“ sets the stage for what’s next: from cutting-edge 6G research and standardization efforts to the practical challenges of implementation. We will explore key innovations such as mmWave communications, and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), but also the emerging potential of NR+. Real-time capabilities will also take the spotlight, including 5G Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) for latency guarantees, and novel techniques for wireless-friendly scheduling in demanding environments.

Security and resilience remain central themes, focusing on 5G/6G security labs and resilience-by-design approaches that address the needs of critical infrastructure and mission-critical applications. The symposium further extends into the cloud-edge continuum, highlighting multi-provider orchestration and the role of AI in both network management and optimization.

This symposium features a curated lineup of invited speakers from leading institutions in industry and academia to give a deep and thought-provoking look into the technologies and design principles redefining the future of networks.
